Cannot stop process on failover server

Issue/Introduction

We changed the DE Server (standby) DNS name to IP address using updateutil utility with an incomplete IP address. If we tried to stop the server, it failed with the message that the server is already stopped. If we tried to start the server, it failed with the message that the server is not running.

CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries) r12

Cause

The DE standby server cannot stop because it was not running. Also, the server failed to start due to the incomplete IP address used to update its 'espresso.local.host'. Exception in server tracelog, stdout, and errors,txt files;
"The exception is java.net.UnknownHostException: 10.xxx.xxx.. "

Resolution

Follow these steps to update the 'espresso.local.host' value with the correct IP address of the standby server.
- Stop primary DE server
- Run updateutil utility on standby server to update the 'espresso.local.host' with complete IP address.
- Start primary DE server
- Start standby DE server

Note - You must stop the DE server before using the updateutil utility. In a CA WA High Availability configuration, stop both the Primary and Standby servers.
