If SMF ID begins with a numeric value will the EXTENDED CONSOLES names display the numeric value in the SMF ID?

Resolution

IBM naming conventions for EXTENDED CONSOLES are as follows;

  1. The name MUST begin with an UPPPER CASE alphabetic character or #, $, or @.

  2. Numeric values are not allowed.

CA Remote Console will not process an SMF ID that has a numeric first character.

Example:

EXTCONNUM=3 is set, so you would define 3 Extended Consoles. The SMF ID of the system running Remote Console is S028.

The console names would be S028RC01, S028RC02, and S028RC03.
