I had been (prior to the upgrade) running the 1st step of the scratch run (creating the cards) on two different LPARs at the same time. (one LPAR was running version 12.6 and the other was running version 14).This allowed me to monitor the “scratch” logic process and to compare the versions (testing). This was submitted via our automation product. We basically start 2 CATTRS at the same time on 2 different LPARS. Not long after they started, contentions started to appear and the received the following messages: *09.10.56 *IEC393I CATALOG CONTENTION *WARNING: CATALOG TASK CONTENTION WAIT-TIME WAS EXCEEDED. *RESOURCE(SYSIGGV2)JOBNAME(DAILYJOB1)ASID(00A5)TCB(009F85XX) *RESOURCE(SYSIGGV2)JOBNAME(DAILYJOB2)ASID(00972)TCB(009F85ZZ) *RESOURCE(SYSZVVDS)JOBNAME(DAILYHOB3)ASID(0098)TCB(009FE9XX) *RESOURCE(SYSIGGV2)JOBNAME(DAILYJOB4)ASID(00AA)TCB(009F85EE) *RESOURCE(SYSIGGV2)JOBNAME(DAILYJOB9)ASID(009A)TCB(009F85FF)
z/OS TLMS 14.0 OAM
Due to the TLMS RESERVE process to share the VMF between LPARS, it is not recommended to CATTRS on 2 different LPARS at the same time. You can create a test VMF from your production VMF for the testing of the new release.
