Issue/Introduction

Unable to launch the Spectrum Control Panel (SCP), get an error SPC-OCP-10033 could not connect to the  location server

Environment

Spectrum 10.x running on Windows

Cause

This happens when Processd and Location server are unable to bind to the ports properly. There may be other applications running on the server which are preventing Spectrum processes to access these ports.

When you check the SCP.out file under <SPECROOT>\bin folder, you will see the below errors.

Aug 01, 2018 13:10:58.554 - Error connecting to LocServ: org.omg.CORBA.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST:   vmcid: 0x0  minor code: 0  completed: No

Both the processd and Location services will not be running on the server

Resolution

This happens when Mcafee firewall is enabled and running on the server. Disable the firewall and reboot the server. Now the Spectrum process should start up and bind to the ports normally.
