Issue/Introduction

When modifying Active Directory endpoint accounts in Identity Manager, users may encounter a "java.lang.NullPointerException" or a UI error stating, "unable to determine actions for this object."

This issue typically occurs in environments that have been migrated or customized where UI components are not correctly located in the directory structure.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.x

Cause

This error is primarily caused by two factors:

  1. Directory Pathing: Custom UIs placed in the imcss directory rather than the default ui7 directory may fail to load correctly if the base path is not configured to accommodate the change.
  2. Browser Caching: Browsers may retain cached metadata from a previous environment, which conflicts with the updated pathing of the migrated UI.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:

  1. Verify UI Directory Pathing: Ensure the custom UI is correctly placed within the imcss directory and that the application is configured to reference the correct relative path (e.g., .../identityEnv/imcss/####/).
  2. Clear Browser Cache:
    • Close all active browser sessions.
    • Clear the browser cache and history.
    • Restart the browser and attempt the task again.
  3. Verify Configuration: If the error persists, ensure that the environment configuration correctly points to the custom UI location.
