Issue/Introduction

 

When installing the SiteMinder Policy Server, the installation ends in error. This error is displayed below

  Custom Action: 
  Status: FATAL ERROR 
  Additional Notes:

  FATAL ERROR - The architecture of the Enhanced Session Assurance
  with DeviceDNA feature is updated in Policy Server 12.6.

  This feature requires CA Access Gateway 12.6 or later. For
  information about using the feature, see the Configure Enhanced
  Session Assurance with DeviceDNA section in the documentation.

  The policy store could not be initialized.

Environment

 

Policy Server 12.8 on Windows 2012 R2/Windows 2016;

 

Cause

 

The hostname for the System DSN on ODBC SQL Server Wire Protocol Driver Setup was misconfigured as indicated below:

  Hostname\SQLInstance name 

 

Resolution

 

The SQL Server hostname should be entered without the backslash and the SQL instance name.
