Moving SMF Director SMF Tapes from one VTS to another

Issue/Introduction

We are converting from CA VAPE to and IBM VTS. Is there a way to copy SMF Director SMF tapes from CA VTAPE to an IBM VTS and still allow the SCDS to be updated and track them on the new volume?

Resolution

If you are doing a volume for volume migration from VTAPE to VTS, then you only need to adjust the volume serials in the entries with the UPDTX control statement.
This will work if the migration is 100% volume for volume. 
If you are copying the data in a dataset migration, then you would need to determine where the data sets land (volume serial and file sequence number) and then update the index using UPDTX.
