X-Headers are defined in the RFC-822 standard. These are headers that are added into the message in addition to the usual headers like To, From, Subject, etc. These have traditionally started with “X-” to denote that the value is experimental or an extension. Specifically x-headers are custom extension that can be used for tracking mail events.
What is the X-WiganSS header string and how does it relate to CA Data Protection?

The CA Data Protection endpoint agents stamp events that are processed with an "X-WiganSS" header item to stop items being unintentionally reprocessed.
The X-WiganSS value is computed from the Status (processed,Failed), message source server name and the message ID.
If an Endpoint Agent (i.e. Exchange Server Agent) detects the X-WiganSS with a processed status it skips the mail processing. The exception being on an Exchange Server Agent where the "ReprocessClientEmails" registry setting is set. This registry key has three possible values (Never, Always, Quarantine). The default behavior for the server agent corresponds to ‘Never’.
Never Emails marked as already processed by the Outlook or Notes client agent are never processed a second time by the Exchange or Domino server agent.
Quarantine Emails marked as already processed by the Outlook or Notes client agent can be processed a second time by the Exchange or Domino server agent, but only to apply a quarantine control action. This option is designed to minimize the load on the email server agent.
Always Emails marked as already processed by the Outlook or Notes client agent are always processed a second time by the Exchange or Domino server agent.
