Issue/Introduction

If we run the agent on our Linux or Unix platform as multi-user, this means that anyone with permission to login to that server can connect to the agent.  We have several users who should have access, but others who should not be granted this access.  Is there any option to run multiuser agent without root priviledges ?

Resolution

There is no option to run the multiuser agent without root privileges. By default, running the agent from any other userid results in a single-user agent configuration.  In the single-user configuration, only the user who starts the agent process has permission to access that agent.  There are two ways to meet this requirement:

  1. You can run a single user agent for each user who should be granted permission, with each single user agent listening on a different port number.

  2. You can run one single user agent with a single userid that all users with permission will use to connect to the agent.
