Issue/Introduction

Spectrum Network Configuration Manager (NCM) Error: SPC-OCC-11664: Unable to write to the device. Either the device is not responding or the set SNMP community string is not correct.

Environment

Any Spectrum version

Resolution

First you will want to ensure that the SNMP Community String on the device is correct. To verify this you can manually poll the device and see if the SNMP response is successful.

If that is successful, this error can also be due to network latency or the device handling a lot of traffic at the time of the configuration capture. We recommend that you increase the following settings for the device which in most cases will resolve the issue:

Change:

DCM Timeout: 3000
DCM Retry Count: 3

To

DCM Timeout: 10000
DCM Retry Count: 5

Once completed, please try and re-capture the configuration.

If you are still receiving the same error or a different error, please contact CA Support for Assistance.
