Issue/Introduction

What is needed on the BSI APP or WEB server if the IP address or the database server hostname changes where the BSI database is located?

Environment

CA Business Service Insight 8.3.x and 9.x

Resolution

If the BSI database is moved to a new server with a new IP address or hostname, need to change the Oracle tnsname entry on both the BSI APP and Web servers to update the database hostname information.

This can be accomplished by either running the Oracle's net configuration assistant or manually edit the Oracles tnsnames.ora file to update the database hostname information.

If the actual Oracle tnsname does not change, but only the Oracle server, then there is no configuration changes needed from the BSI side.

However, if the Oracle tnsname changes then need to run the BSI passupdate.exe utility and specify the new tnsname
