Issue/Introduction

Getting the following error starting CA Spool:

 * ESF016 INVALID SVCCODE SPECIFIED, RC=4
 * ESF002 INITIALIZATION FAILED, CORRECT ABOVE PROBLEMS AND RESTART ESF

Cause

This error indicates the SVC number pointed by the ESFPARM parameter SVCCODE is in use by another product.

Resolution

Consult the z/OS administrator to get a free SVC number and update the SVCCODE parameter:

SVCCODE=nnn
