This KD will guide you thru the upgrade from B793 to B871 and preserve your customization.
To check the level of your Windows Client, go to the Main Toolbar / Help / About.
The level will be listed like: 12.7.793.
Do not delete the current Windows Client prior to this install.
You install right on top of the old.
Download the Windows Client just like you would a PTF.
1. Go to the Support Home page and login.
2. Click on Download Management.
3. Click on Download by Solution ID (Link in yellow at top of page)
4a. In "Search by Solution/Fix Number",
Enter RO72100 for: 12.7 SP2 BUILD 871 [B871], then click the search symbol.
4b. Click "Add All to Cart".
5a. Enter RO96242 for: 12.7.871 PATCH3, then click the search symbol.
5b. Click "Add All to Cart".
6. Select "Cart" near top of page with 3 items and download each of the PTFs to a location you choose.

7. Copy the folder: BrightStor SRM Data to anywhere on your computer as a backup.
This is for the rare event that there is a problem with the install.

8. Create an empty folder anywhere on your computer.
8a. Unzip the B871 file.
8b. Extract all the folders and files to the empty folder you created.
8c. Be sure that "All files..." and "Use folder names" are both checked.
A "nest" of folders and files will be created.
9. In the "root" level folder, you will see SETUP.exe. Double-click this to launch the install.
10. After the install completes, start the Windows Client and allow it do the updates.
When they are done, shutdown the WC.

Instructions to install B871 Patch 3:

11. The download of PTF RO96242 is an .exe file.
When you double-click this, it will install over the current install.
When the Patch is installed, in the Help/About the release is shown as: 12.7.871.3
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
---------------------
This patch includes a new build of the Host Configuration Client and update
for the Scheduler Service. If you are running the SRM link Service (CA SRM
and CA Vantage Link Service) or the CA scheduler service (CA SRM and
CA Vantage Scheduler), please turn these services off before applying
patch 12.7.871.3 on the Windows Client 12.7.871 or B871 with prior patches installed.
Additional Instructions:

After you confirm that the upgrades are good, you can delete the backups of the BrightStor SRM Data folder.
