Issue/Introduction

CA DB2 tools Post Install job, ssid0001, is failing with a RC 16 and messages:

BPA0080I: BATCH PROCESSOR EXECUTION
BPA0037E: LOG SYSTEM ssid FAILED ON SQL ERROR: -0904.
BPA0012E: DB2 SQL/DDL ERROR HAS OCCURRED - ROLLBACK ISSUED. RETCODE = 16

IDC3186I INVALID VOLUME SERIAL SPECIFIED

Explanation:
An attempt was made to define a non-SMS-managed data set with a volume serial
of '*'. A volume serial of '*' is only permitted for SMS-managed data sets.

User response:
Correct the volume serial and run the job again.

Depending on site requirements the volume in the stogroup may need to be altered
to specify a specific volume.
