How to run a Spectrum PView Health Report from the command line on Linux to run in the background

Environment

Release: Any version of Spectrum running on Linux

Resolution

1. Log into the Linux SpectroSERVER system as the user that owns the Spectrum installation

2. cd to the $SPECROOT/PView directory and enter the following command where <VNM> is the hostname of the SpectroSERVER system, <TIME> is the collection time in hours to collect data (6 hours minimum) and <ADDR_LIST> is the comma delimited e-mail address list to e-mail the report to when done. 

./pviewrep <VNM> -c <TIME> -e <ADDR_LIST>  >  /dev/null 2>&1 &

pviewrep will run in the background for the time specified. Running in the background will allow the user to log out of the system.

NOTE: In order for the e-mail to work, the mail server must be configured on the system.
