Issue/Introduction

We've a lot of radio-based equipment which loses contract frequently. I don't want Spectrum to trigger 0x10d66 & 0x10d67 events for those devices, since it overpopulates the Archive Manager DDM database and Spectrum Report Manager (SRM) reporting . I've created a Policy for the devices that sets 0x12809 (PollPortStatus) to "No", but I still get 0x10d66 & 0x10d67 for these devices. Is there something else that I forgot to set at the port level?  If so, can I create a global collection of ports from the existing collection of switches?

We have a collection of switches where I want to turn off port monitoring but I need to do it at the port level.

Can I create a Spectrum Global Collection of ports from an existing Global Collection of devices?

Environment

Release: Any
Component: SPCAEM - Events and Alarms

Resolution

GeneratePortStatusAlarm needs to be turned off at the port level.

You can create a global collection of ports from the existing collection of switches as follows:

1. Create a simple Global Collection named Cisco (for example All devices, vendor type equal to Cisco) to get all Cisco devices.

2. Create a second Global Collection to identify all ethernet ports for the Cisco devices. (use CollectionModelNameString equal to Cisco and internal IF type equal to 6).

3. Launch the 2nd Global Collection and see no models are found.

4. If you replace the CollectionModelNameString with the search criteria from step 1 and internal IF type equal to 6 then it will work.
