EM cannot be restarted; with rocksdb exception: no such file or directory

EM cannot be started, with the following error:
[ERROR] [main] [Manager] The EM failed to start. org.rocksdb.RocksDBException: Corruption: Can't access /xyz.sst: IO error: data/metadata/xyz.sst: No such file or directory
How to solve this issue?
reproduced on 10.5.1.8 EM, Redhat 7
This is due to a corrupted metadata file.
1.) Make a backup of the folder /opt/CA/APM/data
2.) Remove or rename this directory. (the goal is to have no "data" directory in this path).
3.) Restart the EM. It will create a new "data" directory.
