CA Automic Applications Manager (AM)

Issue/Introduction

All sftp jobs are failing as "ABORTED"  with the error below, post upgrading agent servers from Red Hat 7 to Red Hat 8 ,

Error: 2024-06-17 08:28:29 Error - unable to connect to remote host - 'xxxxxxxxxx'

Environment

CA Automic Applications Manager 9.4x, 9.5x

Linux Red Hat 8

Cause

Known Defect. Outdated version of   jsch-0.1.39.jar file in SFTP_Java agent  causes SFTP_JAVA jobs connection errors to Red Hat 8 linux systems.
Error - unable to connect to remote host - 'xxxxxxxxx'

Resolution

Future release 9.6x or higher will have the agent packaged with the latest version of jsch jar file (jsch-0.2.18.jar / higher). (9.6.0 is tentatively planned  for October 2024 - Version and timeline may change depending on internal testing.)

Workaround:

Downloading the latest version of the jsch jar file from the jcraft vendor site into the $AW_HOME/web/classes or %AW_HOME\web\classes (Windows) directory and restarting the agent resolves issue.

Additional Information

Applications Manager ships with jsch-0.1.39.jar file which is a third party jcraft utility. This utility is used for the actual file transfer. In some cases, downloading current version of this jar file from the vendor site resolves many connection issues.
Please note FTP, FTP_JAVA, and SFTP_JAVA are legacy jobs with limited functionality. Starting versions 9.2 and higher, SFTP_JAVA has been removed.

The suggested method of file transfer is through the FTP RA agent. RA FTP requires additional licensing, please contact your CA account manager for further details.
