Issue/Introduction

When doing a silent install of the CA Access Gateway (SPS), it fails on running the smreghost command:

Custom Action: Status: ERROR Additional Notes: ERROR - Host Registration failed: "/{home_sps}/agentframework/bin/smreghost".

Though you may continue with configuration from this point, your CA Access Gateway will not work until you have registered this host with the Policy Server.
It is strongly recommended that you review your information and complete host registration before continuing.

There's also no trusted host entries in SiteMinder AdminUI or any of the Domain or realm configurations.

The silent install configuration worked on 8 other CA Access Gateway (SPS) servers.

Resolution

A missing firewall rule was blocking access to the Policy Servers.

For the Host Registration and smreghost command, to work successfully, connectivity to the Policy Server is required.

Therefore, if there are any stateful devices in between, those should be looked at to make sure and allow the connectivity.
