Issue/Introduction

Large or complex reports are timing out or taking too long to run and populate data

Environment

Release: Any Supported Releases

Resolution

  • Always schedule complex/large reports vs running them in immediate mode
  • Use more filters when viewing reports immediately or scheduling, try reducing the row output
  • When scheduling, make sure offset processing to non-peak times, i.e. nights and weekends. The results will be available in Advanced Reporting and Reports - Log
  • The application timeout is 15 minutes, ensure all custom and OOTB reports take less than 15 minutes to run

Note: Properly scheduled reports outside of peak hours will help distribute load and reduce sizing requirements for users, by reducing the impact on the database during peak times. Scheduling allows lower user wait time when implemented correctly
