Issue/Introduction

Once a deployment begins, as soon as hotfixes and CPs are deployed, great amounts of disk space on the vApps are consumed. How should these unnecessary backups, that can no longer (probably) be rolled back to deleted? Our vApps which have been having multiple hotfixes and maybe one CP installed have consumed nearly all available disk space. As a result, our new problem is that the appliances are running out of disk space - because we need a mechanism to delete all these old backups.

Environment

Release: 14.1
Component: IDSVA

Resolution

SE provided a hot fix as part of defect DE352290 to this scenario, although it has to be used with great care as it is not reversible.
Please apply this hot fix only if you are sure that the system is in a stable status and that none of the currently applied patches might need to be rolled back.
Another solution would obviously be to increase the disk space.
Please note that upgrading to 14.2 should clear disk space due to an enhancement in the backup mechanism of patches.
