Issue/Introduction

The eTDYNConnectionURL attribute cannot be updated using the User Console or the etautil command when the target endpoint is offline, as the Connector Server attempts to establish a connection to the endpoint and fails.

Environment

CA Identity Manager r14.5

Resolution

When an endpoint is offline, standard administrative tools fail to update the eTDYNConnectionURL attribute due to mandatory endpoint connectivity checks. To bypass this connection attempt and update the attribute while the endpoint remains offline, modify the Provisioning Directory directly using JXplorer.

  1. Open JXplorer and initiate a connection:
Launch JXplorer on your management station and navigate to the connection setup menu.

  2. Configure connection properties for the Provisioning Directory

    Enter the following connection details:

    • Host Name: Provisioning Directory Host Name

    • Port: 20391

    • Level: User + Password

    • User DN: eTDSAContainerName=DSAs,eTNamespaceName=CommonObjects,dc=etadb

    • Password: DSAs password

  3. Locate and update the attribute:
Connect to the directory, navigate to the relevant object, and update the eTDYNConnectionURL attribute directly. Save your changes before disconnecting.
