Issue/Introduction

I'm in the process of installing R12 of CA-7, I had created a new Datacom setup specifically for this CA 7.

When I went to load the converted database into the new Datacom I got several times where the LXX area filled up and needed to be spilled.

The original LXX area was created with 2400 tracks, It appears that I will need to increase that amount.

Customer installing CA 7 on Development would like to increase LXX allocations.

Resolution

In order to increase the LXX allocation follow these steps:

  1. Stop the applications that are using the Multi-User Facility (called MUF)
  2. Run a final DBUTLTY SPILL
  3. Shut down the MUF using the EOJ command, so the MUF shuts down normally (no error)
  4. Allocate a new LXX at the desired size, using ISPF 3.2 or your own JCL. Be sure to use the same name as the existing file
  5. Use the DBUTLTY INIT function to initialize the new LXX (and optionally the FXX). Refer to the CA Datacom/AD INSTJCL member AD15LXXI
  6. Once the job completes with CC zero, start the MUF as usual.
