CA Identity Manager: Not able to remove the attributes from management console

Issue/Introduction

It is not possible to remove a custom attribute from the user directory using CA IDM management console by taking export and removing the attribute and importing it back.

Resolution

You cannot remove a single attribute from an existing directory. You must export the directory.xml, remove the attribute and then create a new directory and import the modified directory.xml as an entirely new directory.
