During a TMSXTEND the following messages are displayed:

TMSXT01I TMC EXTEND STARTING. 
TMSXT33I ------ TEST MODE IS ACTIVE ----- 
TMSXT25I OPEN/CLOSE TMC FOR OUTPUT TO PREVENT BATCH PROCESSING. 
IEFTMS21 JOBNAMEZ WAITING ON DYNAMIC ALLOCATION OF THE CA 1 DATASET BROADCOM.CA1.TMC 
!MIM1038I JOBNAMEZ JOB47121 A=01A3 T=AE5D90 contention with VANTAGE A=0118 T=AFF6C8 OWNS SHR on IBPDP01

and the TMSXTEND can't be finished, till VANTAGE is stopped.

Resolution

Plan to run TMSXTEND before or after the CA 1® Tape Management System daily maintenance or any other CA 1® Tape Management System batch job. Before you execute TMSXTEND, stop CA 1® Tape Management System batch utilities and shut down the DBS and APEC subtasks of CTS. Disable the CA Vantage™ Storage Resource Management script for CA 1® Tape Management System. The ISPF interface and the old TSOTIQ interface work correctly for individual volume or DSNB inquiries or updates. The range-display in the ISPF interface does not work while TMSXTEND is in progress.

CA1's script should be disabled during the TMSXTEND.
The CA1 script can be: DSKTMCV, DSKTMCF, DSKTMCBTMCDSNB, TMSAUDIT all these scripts can be find in the system script.. or any other user script which involve TMC file.
